Surface Conditioning Materials (SCM)

Our Surface Conditioning Materials (SCM) have been designed for machine operation in either disc or belt format.

sia Fibral Surface Conditioning Material will:
  • Remove surface imperfections
  • Generate the required finish in one operation
  • Produce clean, smooth, burr-free surfaces
  • Refine grind lines in fewer steps than coated abrasives
  • Provide a unique combination of aggression, finish and life
  • Give a consistent, repeatable finish
  • Replace traditionally used products such as coated abrasives and wire brushes

Series 6250

This series can be used in both belt and disc form; it’s a great all-rounder. The stiff nature of this product adds to the aggression of the coarser grade discs in the range, which makes it ideal for pre-paint operations on carbon steel, light stock removal and grind line removal on Innox steel. The finer grade discs in the range are excellent finishing products on Inox (stainless steel).

Series 6230 Hyperflex (belt only)*

6230 Hyperflex is specifically designed to work in belt form. As the name suggests the material is very flexible and ideal for internal and external radius work, eg. door handles. This series is softer than its competitors which allows for an excellent speed of finish; reducing heat build up in the work piece and giving a very consistent finish. The whole range has been designed to be used in sequence; making it an ideal finishing product to integrate into a finishing sequence after coated abrasives.

Series 6260 Ultradisc (disc only)

6260 is made uniquely into discs. It is more flexible than 6250 and is designed with a lighter nature which means less damage to the work piece and quicker finish. The thick pile gives an extended lifetime and reduces heat build up. It is ideal for flat area work in carbon steel and Inox. Perfect for use in conjunction with coated abrasive discs to achieve the desired finish in the least time.

Series 6210 (belt only)

6210 is the low stretch member of the sia scm family, designed for long continuous use on manual and robotic machinery in belt form only. The tighter backing allows less creep over time, making sure the belts will not slip off the machine. This range is at the coarser end of sia's scm products.

Series 6220 (disc only – upon special order)

6220 is a disc-only product that is designed to be aggressive. Differing manufacturing techniques mean the grit on the product is exposed from the start of use. It can be used with Carbon and Inox steels to give a coarser finish, more quickly.
