Good foundation for 150 new flats in Frauenfeld (22/12/2006)
Sale of disused land by sia Abrasives Industries AG and E. Bruderer Maschinenfabrik AG.
sia Abrasives Industries AG, Frauenfeld, and E. Bruderer Maschinenfabrik AG, Arbon, have had some disused land in Frauenfeld rezoned and recently sold the rezoned site at Frauenfeld’s Schmidgasse to Winterthur Leben and Implenia.
The rezoning project covered plots of land with an area of approx. 24,500 square metres. Approx. 23,000 square metres were sold to Winterthur Leben AG, Winterthur, and Implenia Generalunternehmung AG, Basel, which maintains a branch in Frauenfeld. They are planning a development of residential buildings which are intended to accommodate about 150 rented and freehold flats.
For the purpose of rezoning, sia Abrasives and Bruderer had concept plans drawn up that have already been approved in the first stage and are considered approvable for a building permit in the second stage so work can start in autumn 2007. With the city’s access to the Zurich rapid transit system, demand for rented and freehold flats in Frauenfeld has recently risen vastly. The Schmidgasse site is situated in a prime location, only five minutes’ walk from the railway station.
As a result of this transaction, sia Abrasives acquired approx. 1,500 square metres of industrial land from Bruderer which, combined with the plots already in reserve, will allow the company to further expand its manufacturing and conversion facilities. Thanks to the cooperative work done by the City of Frauenfeld and Canton of Thurgau’s authorities and public offices, the rezoning and sale to Winterthur and Implenia came through within a few months. This project provides Frauenfeld with added potential to continue its thriving development.
